Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) is Westminster City Council’s adult education service and the largest local authority adult education service in London.

We provide life-changing learning opportunities, through delivering qualification courses, apprenticeship programmes and extensive community-based provision to over 6,000 learners annually.

We work to adapt to the changing needs of our communities, resulting in a dynamic atmosphere where ambition, diversity and creativity are celebrated. Learning takes place in both the local community and onsite in our three centres.

WAES is learner-centric, meeting a broad range of needs through a diverse offer including: Professional Pathways, Creative Industries, ESOL, Functional Skills and Community Learning. Working with local partners and employers, we support communities to grow, learn and develop as well as having huge successes in getting people into work.

WAES meets community needs through a responsive and agile curriculum, developing a strong learner voice through a Learner Representative System (LRS), that shapes their curriculum offer and gives learners the opportunity to undertake various roles, supporting their development beyond the classroom.

WAES’s ethos is that no learner gets left behind, and staff go above and beyond to ensure that learning is accessible, and learners are well supported to achieve and progress.
